Fellow Candidate Application

Applications for 2027 Complex Benign Gynecology (CBG) Fellowship positions will be submitted through FellowshipsCAS and must be completed by May 1, 2026.​

Key dates and Application Platform

Applicants are strongly encouraged to begin gathering required documents in advance to ensure a smooth submission process. ​

Required Documents (Uploaded in FellowshipsCAS)

  • Headshot Photograph
    • One digital, high resolution headshot (approximately 300 dpi).​
    • Photos will not be visible to programs during initial application review or interview selection. They will become visible after interviews and may be used for AAGL/CBG fellowship media platforms.​
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Should include educational background, abstracts and presentations (regional and national), publications, honors, awards, and other academic achievements.​
  • Letters of Reference
    • A minimum of three letters is required.
    • At least one letter must be from the applicant’s residency program director, if currently in a residency program. ​
    • Referee information will be entered in FellowshipsCAS, which will automatically prompt letter writers to upload their letters.
  • Residency ACGME Case Log Summary
    • One-page summary of the applicant's ACGME case log.
  • Personal Statement
    • Essay text (maximum 4,000 characters) discussing the applicant’s interest in pursuing Complex Benign Gynecology fellowship training.​
  • ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
    • Required for international medical graduates who are ECFMG certified.​
  • TOEFL iBT Certificate (if applicable)
    • Required for international medical graduates who must demonstrate English language proficiency.​
  • Official USMLE or COMLEX Transcript
    • An official copy of the applicant’s USMLE or COMLEX transcript must be uploaded in FellowshipsCAS.
    • Separate email or physical mailing to the fellowship office is no longer required.​

Applicants Not Currently in Residency

If you are not currently a resident in training, the following must also be included in your FellowshipsCAS application:

  • A description of your current practice.​
  • A list of all hospital staff and teaching appointments currently held, including types of privileges.​
  • A copy of your current malpractice insurance policy.​

  • The CBGF match is conducted through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). You will be required to register for the match on the NRMP website (www.nrmp.org). Below, please see important NRMP dates:
    • June 24, 2026 – Match Opens
    • July 15, 2026 – Rank Opens
    • August 19, 2026 – Quota Deadline
    • September 9, 2026 – Rank Closes
    • September 23, 2026 – Match Day
