SUMMARY:AAGL/Romanian Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecology Webinar: Radical Trachelectomy in Reproductive Aged Women: Balancing Oncologic Surgery and Fertility Goals
DESCRIPTION:AAGL/Romanian Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecology Webinar:\nClick here to register.\n \nWebinar Topic: Radical Trachelectomy in Reproductive Aged Women: Balancing Oncologic Surgery and Fertility Goals \nPresented By: \nMihnea-Andrei Nicodin\, MD\, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy\, Bucharest\, Romania \nModerated By: \nNicolae Suciu\, MD\, PhD\, Dr.h.c.\nPresident of the Romanian Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecology \nWebinar Description: Vaginal radical trachelectomy (VTR) has revolutionized fertility-sparing surgery in cases of early-stage cervical cancer\, offering hope to women wishing to preserve reproductive potential without compromising oncologic safety. First pioneered by Dargent in 1994\, this minimal invasive surgical technique enables removal of the cervix and parameters while maintaining the uterus\, thus enabling the patient to achieve future pregnancies. \nThis webinar will explore the surgical technique of VRT\, highlighting operative steps\, including uterine artery preservation\, parametrial resection\, and the critical role of isthmic cerclage. We will discuss patient selection criteria\, identifying optimal candidates and situations where alternative approaches are indicated. \nParticipants will gain valuable knowledge into oncologic outcomes\, recurrence risks\, and how key tumor characteristics—such as tumor size\, lymphovascular space invasion\, and deep stromal invasion—impact prognosis. The session will also explore the fertility and obstetric outcomes following VRT\, addressing pregnancy rates\, common complications such as cervical insufficiency and preterm birth\, and strategies to optimize reproductive success\, including cerclage placement and surveillance protocols during pregnancy. \nEmerging innovations\, such as sentinel lymph node mapping and neoadjuvant chemotherapy for larger tumors\, will also be reviewed\, alongside future directions aimed at improving both cancer control and fertility preservation. \nBy the end of this session\, attendees will be equipped with practical knowledge to counsel and manage reproductive-aged women considering VRT\, balancing oncologic safety with the desire for future childbearing.

SUMMARY:AAGL Urogynecology/Vaginal Surgery SIG Webinar: When Mesh Goes Wrong: Surgical Management of Complex Cases and Important Peri-Operative Considerations
DESCRIPTION:AAGL Urogynecology/Vaginal Surgery SIG Webinar: Click here to register. \nWebinar Topic: When Mesh Goes Wrong: Surgical Management of Complex Cases and Important Peri-Operative Considerations \nPresented by: \nKate Woodburn\, MD\, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist\, Greensboro\, NC\nTopic Title: Mesh in URPS: A Brief History\n \nKatie Propst\, MD\, University of South Florida\, Tampa\, FL\nTopic Title: Sling Complications\n \nJo Hill\, MD\, University of Utah\, Salt Lake City\, UT\nTopic Title: Sacrocolpoexy Mesh Complications\n \nModerated by: \nLisa Hickman\, MD\n \nWebinar Description: Mesh-augmentation for prolapse and incontinence procedures gained popularity in the 1990’s and has continued to be a mainstay of treatment for these conditions. When used properly\, these materials can be associated with high rates of symptom resolution and patient satisfaction. While uncommon\, mesh complications can arise and be associated with significant negative sequelae. The goal of this lecture is to provide gynecologic surgeons with a greater understanding of mesh properties used for these procedures\, the clinical applications for mesh\, and the contraindications for its use. Additionally\, even if these procedures are not a part of one’s clinical practice\, caring for patients with a history of mesh will be. As such\, considerations for diagnosing and managing prolapse and incontinence mesh complications will be highlighted with case-based discussions. \nWebinar Course Objective(s):\n1. To understand the properties of mesh used for prolapse and incontinence\n2. To appreciate indications and contraindications for mesh use when managing prolapse and incontinence\n3. To highlight complications associated with mesh for prolapse and incontinence\, discuss how to manage these complications and review their associated outcomes
