SUMMARY:[ POSTPONED ] Advanced GYN Laparoscopic Anatomy & Hysterectomy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:[POSTPONED: Check back later for new dates!]\nWorkshop Topic: Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopic Anatomy & Minimally Invasive Surgery with Emphasis on Laparoscopic Hysterectomy \nPresented by: Program Chair: Resad P. Pasic MD\, Faculty: Megan A. Cesta MD\, Joseph L. Hudgens\, MD\, Keith B. Isaacson MD\, Grace M. Janik\, MD\, David J. Levine MD\, Amira Quevedo MD\, Linda Shiber MD \nCourse Description: This course is designed for gynecologists who desire to advance their laparoscopic skills. This extensive two-day course will expose the participants to the knowledge and expertise of FMIGS trained laparoscopic surgeons\, who will guide them through didactics and hands-on laparoscopic suturing and cadaveric sessions. No more than three participants are assigned to each cadaver and s/he is closely supervised by experienced faculty instructors. Each participant will have the opportunity to operate\, assist\, and observe in a rotational format to optimize their learning experience and suturing technique. The course will focus on demonstration of pelvic sidewall dissection\, localization of the ureter and retroperitoneal blood vessels\, preparation for laparoscopic hysterectomy\, and laparoscopic cuff closure. We will also focus on pelvic floor reconstruction procedures concomitant to laparoscopic hysterectomy. \nRegistration opening soon.  More information:  meetings@aagl.org

Lim\, MD\, Center of Hope at Reno\, Reno\, Nevada \nWebinar Description: This robotic webinar is designed to instruct robotic surgical management of 3 gynecologic disorders\, isthmocele\, management of myoma\, and management of robotic hysterectomy without the uterine manipulator. The course will define and diagnosis of isthmocele and review symptoms and association with infertility. It will provide a comprehensive pre-op work-up for myoma\, incorporating the necessary images to evaluate the condition\, and review the anatomy and surgical steps that are required to perform the necessary robotic procedure successfully for myomectomy and isthmocele. It will also instill how to incorporate the “4th arm” as part of the surgical repertoire when performing a robotic surgical procedure for efficiency. Finally\, the course will introduce tips and tricks of surgical robotic surgical management for isthmocele\, myoma\, and hysterectomy without the use of a uterine manipulator. \nCourse Objectives:\n1. Define\, and review symptoms and diagnosis of isthmocele.\n2. Comprehensive preoperative work-up for myomectomy and isthmocele.\n3. Utilization of preoperative imaging in evaluating condition: Myoma and isthmocele.\n4. Review of retroperitoneal anatomy and controlling of blood supply to minimize blood loss in myomectomy.\n5. Demonstrate the surgical steps in performing an isthmocele repair and tips and tricks of how to use the 4th arm without the uterine manipulator during a robotic hysterectomy.

SUMMARY:FMIGS Webinar: Intraop/Postoperative Complications Part 2 (Risk of Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence\, Mitigating Risk\, and Techniques for Dehiscence Repair)
DESCRIPTION:AAGL FMIGS Webinar: Click here to register. \nWebinar Topic: Intraop/Postoperative Complications Part 2 (Risk of Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence\, Mitigating Risk\, and Techniques for Dehiscence Repair) \nPresented by: Hye-Chun Hur\, MD\, MPH\, NYU Langone Health Center\, New York\, NY \nWebinar Description: The benefits of minimally invasive hysterectomy are well established\, and the rates of conventional laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomy have continued to rise over the past decade. Although many patients benefit from this approach\, there is an increased risk of vaginal cuff dehiscence after robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomy compared to an abdominal or vaginal approach. In this discussion we will 1) discuss the risk of cuff dehiscence by mode of hysterectomy\, 2) assess other risk factors for dehiscence\, 3) review optimal techniques for cuff closure to minimize dehiscence risk\, and 4) demonstrate techniques for dehiscence repair. \n
